Are you excited for the return of our Naples landmark? A few people (14 to be exact) were a little too excited and reported arrested for trespassing before the renovation was complete. Now that the nearly $1 million dollar renovation is complete, the locals and snow birds can visit the pier. The Naples Pier offers a beautiful sunset, clean beaches, calm waters, dolphin sightings, manatee sightings, and a perfect location for children or adults. It's great to see it back on the map and better than ever.
The pier brings many memories and special moments, especially for one particular Naples resident. Recently widowed, Joyce Chesser has purchased a bench for her late husband Donny, who passed away from a seizure.
"He would always ask me the same thing, 'when I'm gone, I want a bench at the pier with my plaque on it,'" she said.
She first looked into the bench when the pier closed for upgrades in July. She was told there was no more space, but then she went to the mayor and explained her husband was born and raised in Naples, with several businesses to his name, and the pier is where he wanted to be remembered. If anything has been made clear, it's vital that you and your loved ones visit the pier at least once this season. Share your photos to our Facebook wall and we'll share our with you! Hope to see you there!
