One thing to avoid when showing a home keeping pets out in the open. It is quite difficult to show someone a home when the dog is jumping on them, barking at them or nipping at their heels. The dog may be part of the family, but we suggest you leave him at grandma’s house along with the kids, just for home showcasing purposes!
Sports memorabilia is a sign of devotion and support towards a certain team but when it conflicts with a home buyers own team of choice, usually right off the bat the home buyer will be turned off and have negative feelings about the home and homeowners.
None of your rooms should be locked when showing your house. When selling your home, nothing should be off limits to a buyer who is interested in your home. Whatever is behind the door might be irrelevant, but it will be enough to make potential home buyers say, “forget it”.
If your goal is to sell, your home should look a little better, smell a little better and be priced a little more competitively than the rest to stand out to home buyers. It is not always easy to part ways with your favorite decorations and kid's trophies but in the long run, you will have a sold home!
